Members of the Dorsey family practiced law in the county for generations.
This is a carbon copy of a court filing in the case of L. B. Gatch and Sons, Inc., plaintiff versus Herman W. Hewitt and Sons, defendants. The filing includes a statement of facts, argument, including citations to relevant cases, and a request to be allowed to offer a defense before the court.
The Hewitts engaged to buy a used crane from the Gatch firm. When the crane was delivered, Mr. Hewitt was asked to sign the promissory note for the purchase, but he did not have his glasses, so he could not read the text. The agent prevailed on Hewitt to sign anyway. Sadly, the crane did not function well, so the Hewitts wanted to return it and get their money back. The Gatch firm refused to accept the equipment and sued for the purchase price, interest, and attorneys fees. Basically, the Hewitts cried foul, citing deceit and fraud.Collection
