Four sheets 11 3/4"h x 18"w drawings of a 24' x 34' house for Mr. Francis R. Dean to be built in or near Leonardtown, Md.
These are three pencil and ruler drawings at a scale of 1/4"=1' and one sheet of specifications.
Sheet 1 was the floor plan with a living room, kitchen, dinette, bath, and two bedrooms. There were stairways to the attic and the basement. There was a fireplace in the living room with narrow doors to the living room and kitchen porches. The house was 34' long, exclusive of porches and 24' front to back.
Sheet 2 was a drawing of the two bay porch elevation. The house had a gable roof and the porch roof was lower, but also a gable on the same orientation. There was a louver in that gable end. There were two narrow fifteen light doors into the living room, a six over six double hung window and another door to the kitchen. There appeared to be a gable roof over the living room front window at ninety degrees to the main roof. The chimney was not centered on the fireplace. The drawing indicated a full size basement under the house.
Sheet 3 showed the front elevation. There were second thoughts about the gable over the living room windows; a larger one was sketched in to reach over the entry door. The entry door was very slightly off center and had two small and four large panels. On the left was a pair of six over six light double hung windows. On the right was a six over six light double hung window flanked by narrow four over four light double hung windows. The porch support was an unadorned column.
Sheet 4 listed the specifications--full brick, full basement with block walls, interior sheetrock, hardwood floors except in the bedrooms, concrete porch floor, all joists on 16" centers, all plumbing and wiring installed for $8,000.Collection
