Scope and Content

1 folder ; 14 3/4" x 9 5/8" Eastern Shore Trust Company was a precursor to the County Trust of Maryland. This multi-sheet form is 1st a 14"h x 17"w printed sheet that is folded in half to form a 14"h x 8 1/2"w wrapper with 4 faces. Other 14"h x 8 1/2"w single sheets are kept in the fold: schedules A-K as required. The completed form was submitted to the Bank Commissioner of the State of Maryland. The form contains a wealth of information about the bank and its holdings. The archivist believes these were the copies retained by the Trust for their own records because they are filled out in pencil, not notarized and not very neatly done. The archivist is not certain how often the forms were submitted, but she retained March, June, September, and December if they were available. The December 1929 form would have been after the crash in October 1929. Mr. Williams dropped off the list of directors. Some of the sheets are missing from the December form, including the list of mortgages and loans. This part covers 2/3 of the sheet. The remaining 1/3 has text at right angles to the above: Report of the Leonardtown Branch, Eastern Shore Trust Co. Located at Leonardtown, Md. Nov. 3, 1925 Large fold, face 2: Title=DR Report of the Condition of The Leonardtown ... at Leonardtown, Md. in the State of Maryland, at, then a list of 13 categories of resources, including loans, stocks and bonds, mortgages, cash, with a total, then #14-20 talk about a dividend paid, any arithmetical discrepancies, then at the bottom of the page was a box for the notary's seal and statement Large fold, face 3: Title=...Bank of the Eastern Shore Trust Co. at the close of business on the 31st day of March 1927 CR, then 13 categories of liabilities, including undivided profits, money subject to check writing, savings, and a total, then categories 14-16 have to do with discrepancies, then was the signature line, to be signed by the President, Cashier or Treasurer only. There was a pencil signature of Stephen M.
