Description

3 3/8"h x 3 3/8"w color photo of a framed portrait of Elizabeth Marshall Forbes. She was at a slight angle to the painter. She had on an elaborate white bonnet with lace closest to her hair. A few dark curls lay on her forehead. She had dark eyes, a generous nose, and a slight smile. Her dress had puffed sleeves and may have been a dark red with a white lace overlay on the bodice. Her collar was two layers of ruffled white material. The frame appeared to be brown, but may have been dark gold. Both the painting and its frame needed work. ****************************** Text on verso: in blue ink "Elizabeth Marshall (b. 1765) wife of John Forbes (1757-1804) After his death, she married Dr. Samuel Bond and had another set of children.
