This material came as a large box of 3" x 5" cards that had been dumped and the cards were thrown back into the box. It appeared that the cards were a family name file and a property name file. There were many duplicates. The archivist put all the family name cards in alphabetical order and the property names in another alpha order. After the elimination of duplicates, four 12" boxes of cards remain. The property names take up about half of box 4. The family names in the subject headings represent families for whom there were at least a few cards. It is worth checking for other names. There are a few cards about slave censuses of 1790 and 1798, church members of William and Mary and Trinity parishes, soldiers of the American Revolution, War of 1812, place names, and names of places and settlers in Kentucky. The information found on these cards can probably be found elsewhere, but some nugget may only be here. The cards are certainly a record of one person's hard work.Collection
