Description

9 5/8"h x 7 5/8"w formal photographic portrait in black and white of Father Gilbert Schmid, S.J. taken in May 1969. The photographer's name in the lower right corner may be Schalk. The print is on a piece of heavy cream board with embossed "frames" around the image. The photographer did not stamp any identification on the board. Father Schmid had light, thinning hair that had receded a little. He wore simple dark framed eyeglasses. His left eyelid obscured half his eye. He wore a black coat and shirt with a bright white collar, as befitted a Jesuit. An informative letter accompanied the portrait. ********************************** Text on verso: In blue ball point "May 1969 Love and prayer to all the B.I. Abells Fr. Schmid" [the Abells were congregants of Our Lady's Chapel and had given the land for the graveyard] in darker ink "Father Gilbert Schmid S.J. = 1937-1941 Pastor Our Lady's Chapel Medley's Neck MD"
