Sepia tone photo 5 3/8"h x 3 7/8"w on 6 1/2"h x 4 1/4" board of Fenwick and John Herbert. On the left, Fenwick Herbert stands next to the photographer's bench on a sheepskin carpet. He has brown hair parted on the left and combed smoothly to the side. Sadly, his eyes are crossed. He has on a white collar with a patterned bow. He has on a heavy jacket with five horizontal strips of elaborate soutache braid that emphasize the buttons of the jacket. He has on knee pants with three buttons for trim near the knee, dark leggings, and high button shoes. John Herbert is seated on the bench with his right leg crossed over his left at the knee. His right hand is on his thigh and his left hand is on the bench. He has dark hair cut close to his head. He has on a white shirt with a very large collar and a large plaid bow at his throat. His jacket is dark with rather large buttons. A very wide self-belt rides at a low waist. His knee pants have a noticeable side seam, he wears dark leggings and high button shoes. In the space at the bottom of the board, in ochre letters, is "Perkins 311 E. Baltimore St. Baltimore, MD."

On the verso, the negative number is written in pencil at the very top, "sons of Alice Carmel Fenwick Herbert" is written in ink below that, and "Fenwick and John Herbert" in pencil near the center left edge. Most of the verso is taken up with an extremely elaborate logo for the firm. A stylized P is twined with vines in the top half of the space, a large cursive "Perkins" is slanted across the middle of the space and the firm's address is at the bottom. This piece was on the upper right of page 8 of the dark red photograph album.Collection
