Description

Black and white photograph 5"h x 3 1/2"w view of Forrest Hall in Morganza that no longer exists. This is a photograph of a photograph and the original was cracked or was a glass plate. The view is from one end of a complex of at least three buildings. There are shrubs, trees, and chickens in the yard. The closest building is one and one half stories tall with an outside end chimney at the near end. The chimney is painted white until the narrow stack begins, after which it is simply brick. There are openings on each side of the stack in the gable end. In the wall perpendicular to the gable end is a central door flanked by one window on each side on the first floor. The building as a whole lacks paint and may be used as a storage space only. The next segment has a different colored roof and may be a little bigger than the first building. The roof has a long slope, but it does not incude coverage for the porch--that has a separate shed roof. There is an inside end chimney on the side beyond the roof peak. Because of foliage, it is not possible to tell if the dark patch under the porch roof is a door or a window. The building farthest from the camera is lower than the other two, but the roof has a longer expanse. Two windows are visible below the eaves and there may be a door from this building onto the porch of the middle structure. There appears to be a large outside end chimney at the opposite end of the building. ******************************************* Text on verso: "Picture 66 Forrest Hall 1946 (destroyed)" This photo was on page 20 of Binder 1.
