Fragment of oath of office for tax collectorsEntry/Object ID
2008.009.0004Scope and Content
1 piece ; 7 5/8"h x 7 1/2"w
This page is torn in such a way that it bears a resemblance to the Matterhorn. Because there are similar, more complete, oaths in the collection, one can recognize some of the text of the final lines of the oath for tax collectors. The collectors promise not to profit from the moneys they collect. The collectors swore the oath before J. Frank Ford, court clerk. A photocopy of the piece and a transcription are included.Collection
