Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of Friendly Hall in Helen. This view is through an outbuilding--a dairy?-- to the house. The main building has a gable roof with its porch incorporated into the roofline. It has two large chimneys on its gable end. The left chimney has a lightning rod. There is one four over four window with shutters near the roof peak between the chimneys on the gable end. The porch has a solid rail on the second floor and an open rail on the first floor. Neither floor is screened. There is a large outside end chimney on the outbuilding's gable end equipped with a lightning rod. There is a small four light window near the eaves on each side of the chimney. The outbuilding nearest the camera has a pyramid roof and no visible windows. Text on scrapbook page: "Friendly Hall at Helen. Built for George Sylvester Mattingly in 1855."
