11"h x 8 1/2"w portrait oriented reproduction of a color photo of Daniel Mytens the Elder's painting of George Calvert, first Lord Baltimore. Lord Baltimore lived from about 1580 until 1632, not quite long enough to see his Maryland colony planted. George Calvert had a slim face with a Van Dyke beard. He wore a large white ruff over an elaborate black suit with a dramatic cape, gold wrappings around his knees, black hose, and large gold buckles on his black shoes. A large flat brimmed black hat with a red and gold band was on the table near him. His sword was barely visible. The painter placed rich red drapes around the figure. It is a striking image.
