1980.001.0261Description
10"h x 8"w black and white portrait orientation photograph of George Cecil's mill in Valley Lee. It is a two story building with a metal gable roof. There are three six over six double hung windows on the second floor and two six over six windows on each side of the oversize central door on the first floor. A rough ramp goes from the door toward the ground, but there is still a foot or more jump to get to the ground. That was probably useful for trucks and wagons to unload. A man in dark clothing and a hat is standing about halfway between the building and the road. A large tree on the left completely obscures the side of the building. There is a gable roofed shed on the right corner of the building that has no walls at all. There may be another building behind it at right angles to the shed. There is a tall smoke stack near the right edge of the photo. Between the man and the shed is a large pile of scrap lumber. Near the road on the left is something large and round. This mill operated as a sawmill.
