Description

3 1/2" x 6" black and white negative of the high school in Glasva in Charles County. This is the front elevation of the two story brick building. It had a hip roof. A one story wing was attached at the back of the building; it also had a hip roof. On the two story building, there was a large circular ventilation fan on the roof peak and a single chimney. The covered doorway was in the center of the front wall. The porch had a triangular pediment as part of a gable roof over the door. A tree obscured other details of the porch and door and the window above the door. Groups of five tall six over six double-hung windows were on each floor on each side of the center door. There were two such windows on the first floor end wall, but none on the second floor. Four individual windows were on the visible side of the addition. Foliage lined a driveway to the front door and there was a car parked right in front. The photographer was several feet away past a hedge of low bushes. Visible in the image: Trees, school buildings, driveways, bushes, roofs, windows, porches, fans, chimneys, automobiles. Text on envelope: "Here is a lovely shot of the Glasva High school with new addition going up on the Morgantown to La Plata highway."
