Water color by Father Stephen Tushak of Governor Leonard Calvert's House in Saint Mary's City. It is a summer scene. This shows a story and a half frame home with brick ends for the main block, with three additions on the right and one addition on the left. There are two outbuildings on the left also. On the first floor, a six-bay porch covers the front door and four of the six windows. There appear to be three steps up to the door. There are basement windows visible. The roof slope gives a modified saltbox effect and suggests a higher, but narrower second floor. There are two small windows in the brick end which is visible. There are four dormers in the roof. Two large inside end chimneys are in the main block, but the front roof and back roof do not meet these chimneys at the same elevation--the roof in back starts higher up the narrow side of the chimney. Each chimney has a corbeled cap. A white open cupola is in the center of the roof and is capped with an elaborate weather vane. The first addition on the right parallels the roof line of the main block. The lower level is brick and the attic space is frame. There is a single centered window visible on the first floor face and a small square window visible in the first floor end. An eight light window is visible on the second floor. There are no chimneys in this addition. The roof line of the next addition is perpendicular to the the first one. This is probably a "hyphen," connecting a kitchen to the main house, being a frame single story with a door on the left and a small window on the right. The next addition is a brick story and a half. It is a rectangle with its narrow face parallel to the long face of the main block. There are no first floor windows in this face, but there are two small windows in the second floor. An inside end chimney dominates this face. On the long face are two windows and two basement windows. The addition on the opposite end of the main block is a frame story and a half, not as tall as the main block. It has an outside end chimney. One window and one dormer are visible. The two outbuildings are white frame with black roofs, with one small window visible in each.
