Description

4 3/4"h x 6 3/4"w landscape oriented sepia tone photo of the schoolchildren at Gravel Hill School on Medley's Neck. Twenty-one students attended school, taught by Miss Olive Raley. Behind the group was the school building. Its footings and siding appeared to be in poor repair. Two large windows with shutters were partly visible. Plaids, middy blouses, and huge hairbows were the fashion. This photo was provided by Rita Martin. ************************************ Text on verso: "Evelyn Van Ryswick, Bertha Raley, Teresa Higgs, Anna and Helen Combs, Marguerite Mattingly, Ishmael & Stanislaus Ferrall, Lorena Redmond, Amy Cullins, William Erich Floyd, 2 Redmond boys, Helena Higgs, Rita Wise Gravel Hill School Medley's Neck 1919-1920 School Year Miss Olive Raley Teacher ..." sadly, the names are not matched to faces
