Gravelly Hills before 6Entry/Object ID

3 1/8"h x 3"w black and white photo of Gravelly Hills before its rescue by Hope Swann and Elizabeth Hoff. The house was all built at once in 1847. This view focuses on the back of the two main blocks and the small addition on the gable end. There was an outside end chimney on each large block, both aft of the roof peak. There were two dormers on the roof of the first part of the house and one on the second part. The little addition had no dormers on this side. There was a window on each side of the nearest chimney. Each had its shutters closed. There were several courses of clapboard missing from all parts of the house. There were six visible windows on the second floor and four visible windows and one door on the first floor of the main house. There was one large window centered in the long wall of the back of the small addition. On the gable end was a large window, boarded over, and on the first floor, another large window with a screen on its lower half. The electric meter was on this wall. The porch roof for the front of the addition was propped up by a two by four. There was a small building with a sheet metal roof just behind the addition; it may have been the well house.
