Gravelly Hills before 7Entry/Object ID
1995.001.1938Description
3 1/8"h x 3"w black and white photo of Gravelly Hills before its rescue by Hope Swann and Elizabeth Hoff. The house was all built at once in 1847. This view focuses on the back of the middle part of the house. There was on outside end chimney on the right that had been enfolded into the roof of the middle section. That section had a chimney on the left; its stack stood away from the wall of the house. There was one dormer on the roof with a six over six window. A vent stack pierced the roof near the center of the space. There were four six over six windows on the second floor and three similar windows visible on the first floor. The addition on the left was just a story and a half. One window in it was barely visible--an outbuilding blocked the view. Repairs had been made to the siding.
