Gravelly Hills during renovation 1Entry/Object ID
1995.001.1977Description
3 1/8"h x 3"w black and white photo of the renovation of Gravelly Hills during its rescue by Hope Swann and Elizabeth Hoff. The house was all built at once in 1847. This photo showed the deterioration of the gable end of the main block of the house. The building was being re-roofed--the front was finished and scaffolding was on the back. In keeping with the style of the house, the overhang was minimal. The closed end shed roof front porch had been repaired also. On the gable end, there had been two large six over six windows in the attic and second floor and probably the first floor as well. On the long side of the house, there were three six over six windows, two of which had shutters in the not too distant past. A plowed field was very close to the house.
