Gravelly Hills during renovation 29Entry/Object ID
1995.001.2005Description
3 1/8"h x 3"w black and white photo of the renovation of Gravelly Hills during its rescue by Hope Swann and Elizabeth Hoff. The house was all built at once in 1847. This photo showed the back of the main and middle blocks of the house and the gable end of the main block. The main block had two dormers. There were three windows visible on the second floor and two on the first floor, plus a door. There was a large outside end chimney on the left enfolded into the roof of the middle block aft of the roof peak. Another chimney was at the left end of the middle block. There were two dormers in that roof smaller than the dormers in the main block. Each dormer had a six over six window. There was a vent stack between the dormers. There were four windows on the second floor of the middle block and two on the first floor, plus a door. There was scaffolding on the entire space to put up siding and to install the second dormer in the middle block and put cedar shakes on that roof. The scaffolding on the gable end only went up about half way. There were two windows on each of three levels.
