Copy of a Don Swann etching of H. M. S. Duke. The image is on very acidic paper and mounted on heavy paper board: 9 5/8"h x 12 1/4"w. The image was in a cheap frame with several informative paragraphs on the back of the frame. That information is with the piece in a separate folder. The style and topography of each descriptive sheet suggests this image was part of a series. The etching is Swann's rendition of a model of the ship, which model is held by the Naval Academy Museum. It was a 90-gun ship in the Royal Navy. This particular version was built in 1739 and saw lots of action until it was retired in 1801.Collection
