6 3/8"h x 9 3/4"w black and white scan of the Herbert house in Avenue, Md. on the corner of Old Colton's Point Road and Dynard Road. The original photo had black straps across the corners to keep it in a book. The house was a two story white clapboard with a single steep dormer roof in the middle of the gable roofline of the main house. The addition on the right was parallel to the main house, also with a gable roof. The second floor of the main house had three double hung four light windows evenly spaced. On the first floor there was a screened hip roof three bay porch with the house's two larger four light windows and an entry door visible through the screening. The porch floor was two steps above the ground.There was an entry door to the porch directly in front of the door to the house. Several chairs were visible on the porch. In the addition, there were three double hung four light windows visible on the second floor. A large bay with a hipped roof had a four light window on each side and two four light windows in the front. There was one other four light window just visible on the right. Large trees shaded the house.
