Description

Black and white 3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w photo of Herring Creek in Valley Lee. This shows the clapboard gable end of the house. It is a story and a half gable roof structure with a porch as part of the roofline. There is a massive double outside end chimney with a brick pent that goes to probably the ceiling of the first floor. The chimneys are straight on the interior side and have a shoulder on the exterior side. The chimney on the right is much larger than the one on the left. The left chimney passes the roof about halfway down the roof slope, but the right stack passes the roof near the peak. There is a scaffold against the chimneys and pent and a chicken walk up the roof of the addition. There are three gable roof dormers in the main house. The porch is obscured by scaffolding. A story and a half, but lower than the main house, addition is on the left. Its gable roof is parallel to the main house, but the roof peak is about halfway down the roof slope of the main house and covers much of the left chimney and the pent. It has clapboard siding. In its roof slope is one gable dormer with a six over six window. On the first floor are two pairs of small six over six double hung windows. One set is quite near the right chimney and the other set is closer to the corner of the addition near the camera. On the gable end is an outside end brick chimney that is to the right of the roof peak. In the peak of the gable end is a single six over six double hung window. On the first floor there is a small six over six double hung window near the corner nearest the camera. A vent fan opening is right next to the chimney. On the other side of the chimney is another six over six double hung window. Beyond that is yet another six over six double hung window, but this is tall and slim and nearer the ground in the style of a living room window. There is construction debris all around. ********************************** Text on verso: "Picture 372.
