Sepia tone print 3 7/8"h x 5 7/16"w on 4 3/16"h x 6 3/8"w on board of the house called Old Town Tavern where the St. Mary's Beacon newspaper was located. This view is through a five rail fence showing the front and one side of the two story house. On the gable end are two outside chimneys. There are two double-hung windows with six lights above and below on the first floor. The window nearest the front is very close to the chimney and has shutters. The other window is between the chimneys. There is one visible window on the second floor gable end, but it has no shutters. There may be a smaller window on the third floor gable end. The clapboards appear to be handmade and the paint is peeling. The roofline carries over the porch, which has two stories. There is a four bar railing on the second floor. Because of the trees, it is difficult to tell how many windows and doors there are on the second floor. A sign is nailed to the edge of the porch: "St. Mary's Beacon." On the first floor porch, three windows and a center door are visible. The far window has shutters. There are five bays on the porch. There is lattice work at the far end of the porch, but only on the first floor. The building appears to be in general disrepair. There is chain link fencing and a gate on the far side of the building; it may belong to the house next door.
