This black and white photo showed Hotel St. Mary's in the early days. Several horses and buggies were in front of the large building. The hotel had a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor, with six dormers in the roof. There was a massive porch on the front and a long wide staircase from the street to the front door. Windows on the second and third floors had dark shutters. There was a large gabled dormer in the center of the second floor and a widow's walk on the roof. A small railing extended from the central dormer to the edge of the porch roof. The large hotel sign was fastened on that railing. In this photo, two large trees and a small house are in the right foreground. There were no paved areas in the vicinity. Mr. Fenwick copied this older photo in June 1972.Collection
