This black and white photo showed Hotel St. Mary's in the early days. The hotel had a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor, with six dormers in the roof. There was a massive porch with awnings on the front and a long wide staircase from the street to the front door. Windows on the second and third floors had dark shutters. There was a large gabled dormer in the center of the second floor and a widow's walk on the standing seam metal roof. A small railing extended from the central dormer to the edge of the porch roof. The large hotel sign was fastened on that railing. One would surmise that it was summer because all the windows were open. There were no paved areas in the vicinity. In the left foreground was an unkempt area of grass and metal fencing. There was also a large power pole with four cross arms. Mr. Fenwick copied this older photo; the original had a tear on the upper edge.Collection
