5 7/16"w x 3 1/2"h postcard with a horizontal orientation. The black and white image is 3"h, leaving a small space at the bottom for the title and publication details. The viewer was standing directly in front of the building. It was not completely finished, i.e., it wasn't painted. It was three above ground stories and one slightly below grade level story. The hotel had a standing seam roof with a large widow's walk and six dormers. The dormers had four light double hung windows, each with a rounded arch top. There was a central pavilion with a broken pediment containing a half round window and one large four light window flanked by narrow two light double hung windows. It was possible to climb out the window to a small porch. The remaining windows on that floor were double hung four light windows with shutters. The porch was covered with a standing seam hipped roof. The supporting columns were very plain and they were supported by brick pillars that went to the ground. There was a dark double entry door flanked by one narrow window on each side. The remaining six windows were of the quite large double hung four light variety. A fairly simple railing completed the porch. There was a central stairway with eleven steps down to the ground. The space under the porch was set back a little and I think had a stairway on the left down to the shops there. There was no sidewalk. A single power pole was left of center in the picture. On the verso was the typical center divider between the mailing address and the message. This card was addressed to Miss Lucie Loker in Valley Lee, without a message. In the upper left corner was the eagle, shield, arrows, and olive branch all in brown ink. The card had not been posted. It was published by Illustrated Post Card Co., N.Y.Collection
