1995.001.1729Description
This black and white photo showed Hotel St. Mary's when the streets were laid out. The hotel had a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor, with six dormers in the roof. There was a massive porch on the front and a long wide staircase from the street to the front door. Windows on the second and third floors had dark shutters. There was a large gabled dormer in the center of the second floor and a widow's walk on the standing seam metal roof. A small railing extended from the central dormer to the edge of the porch roof. The hotel sign was fastened on that railing. There were no leaves on the trees. There were many people on the porch and in the street, as well as lots of cars, both parked and whizzing by. Mr. Fenwick copied this older photo; it may have been a postcard.
