11 ¼"h x 12"w x ½" d The unnumbered pages are alphabetical by customer name, with the exception of three pages at the end. Some customers had sufficient activity to warrant multiple pages. There were personal and business accounts interfiled. Printed on the top of each page: The Leonardtown Bank of the Eastern Shore Trust Company, Leonardtown, MD. Under that is a long line for the customer's name and a second line for the address. The address was often just "Local." On the upper right was a short line for an account number, never used, with a small line for the sheet number, which was used as appropriate. Individual Ledger was printed under that. Each page had eleven columns, divided in half at the sixth column to allow for more data on each page. Date, Credit, Debit, Balance were printed above their respective columns. Column 1 was blank, column 2 was Date, month and day, column 3 was blank, column 4 was Debit, column 5 was Credit, column 6 was Balance. Then came the vertical double purple line and the named columns began again. Column 7 was Date, column 8 was blank, column 9 was Debit, column 10 was Credit, and column 11 was Balance. All entries were by hand, so neither names nor numbers are always legible. The year was usually written under the printed Date. Nearly every page ended at June 1919, when a new system was put in place.
The final three pages had eight or nine names on each page, with a single amount noted, all in 1917.Collection
