Name/Title
J. Allan Coad at a political rally 2Entry/Object ID
2010.005.0003Description
No information was provided about this sepia-tone 6 5/8"h x 9 1/2"w photo of a large group of men posed out in a field. There is a large collection of ox carts and a pony cart in the front. The guests are standing and sitting in the carts. The carts were driven or guided by young African-American men. The oxen do not look thrilled to be there. Most of the guests are wearing paper party hats such as the ones found in party crackers. On the far right is a cart of musicians and there are more musicians at the far left edge of the photo. One man on the left has a blue ball point ink arrow pointing at his head. This is George F. Wathen, Sr. This is a political rally; it may be for J. Allan Coad who is standing above the crowd just to the left of Mr. Wathen. Mr. Coad eventually was a member of the Maryland Senate.
