1 folder ; 14 3/4" x 10"
Bayly Janson-La Palme worked with Lois Green Carr on economic data about colonial Maryland. Ms. Janson-La Palme then did her own work on economic data about Saint Mary's County from 1790-1870. She relied on census data, assessment records, estate inventories, etc. Her dissertation was based on this material, although the analysis in the dissertation only went up through 1840. The voluminous handwritten data was later transcribed onto 5 1/4" floppy disks using PC WRITE. That data was run on the mainframe computer at the University of Maryland. The disks, spread sheets, and other printouts are at the Hall of Records of the Maryland Archives.
This folder has boundary surveys and a photocopy of a contract between Lewis Medley and H. Herring to lease a wheat fan for fourteen years signed in 1819.
Photocopy of 1774 survey of Basford Manor that was found in the Maddox Papers held by Maryland Historical Society. There are two sheets that are not quite the same. One has a partial list of courses, but most of it has cracked away.
Photocopy of a survey of the Thomas lands on Cedar Point and near Millstone landing. There is a partial list of courses that was not complete on the edge of the photocopy.
Four sheets of photocopies of a survey that may have been done or checked in 1906 of the Mackall-Brome plantation
Photocopy of the map of the St. Mary's City and college area with the Brome-Howard house and its outbuildings inked in place.
Photocopy of two pages of a sort of permission slip given to Lewis Medley by H. Herring of Baltimore to use the Jacob Bromwell patented self feeding wheat fan. The second sheet has a schematic of the equipment.
A ditto sheet transcription of the estate inventory of James M. Broome's property. The original was dated November 3, 1825. There are several notes on the verso.Collection
