2004.008.0245Description
John F. Dent's pocket diary for 1873. This diary is a combination of account book and daily notes. The entries are in pencil; some of the writing is incredibly tiny. Some of the entries are in blue pencil which is more difficult to read. Fannie left for Miss More's Academy in Riesterstown. This is a black leather book, green on the inside, with the back cover large enough to wrap around to the front, where it is secured under a strap. The edges of the flap are curved. There is an accordion pocket at the back of this book and a loop for a writing implement. The edges of the pages are gilded. Most of the light colored pages are for specific days and there are memoranda and cash account sheets in the back. The pages are numbered up to p. 218, but then the numbering was abandoned. Mr. Dent entered what he needed wherever he wanted to put it. A tab of paper indicates that this was the 11th diary filmed.Collection
