John F. Dent's pocket diary for 1890Entry/Object ID
2004.008.0263Description
John F. Dent's pocket diary for 1890, with a title page that says "Excelsior Diary for 1890." It was presented to Mr. Dent by Dr. St. Clair, his brother-in-law. This diary is a combination of an account book and daily notes. The entries are in lead pencil. This is a brown leather book, with golden brown on the inside, with the back cover large enough to wrap around to the front. The edge of the flap is curved. There is an accordion pocket at the back of this book and a loop for a writing implement. The edges of the pages are gilded. Most of the light colored pages are for specific days and there are memoranda and cash account sheets in the back. The cash account pages were not used, except for the last two pages used for notes about livestock. A tab of paper indicates that this was the 29th diary filmed.Collection
