Name/Title
John F. Dent's pocket diary for 1898Entry/Object ID
2004.008.0271Description
John F. Dent's pocket diary for 1898, with a title page that says "1898 The Excelsior Diary." Mr. Dent's name and address and "Jan. 1, 1898" is on the flyleaf. This diary is a combination of an account book and daily notes. There are no entries, probably because this is the year Mr. Dent passed away. This is a black leather book, medium brown on the inside, with the back cover large enough to wrap around over the front. The corners of the flap are curved. There is an accordion pocket at the back of this book and a loop for a writing implement. All edges of the pages are gilded. Most of the light colored pages are for specific days and there are memoranda and cash account sheets in the back. A tab of paper indicates that this was the 37th diary filmed, although I can't imagine that took place; there is no text.Collection
