Joseph Hugh Dent painting at the Old Breton InnEntry/Object ID
2013.007.0255Description
6"h x 4"w color photograph of a large framed hand colored photo of Joseph Hugh Dent that hung on the wall at the Old Breton Inn in 1989. The large heavy frame had six layers, then there was at least one, maybe two mats, and then the photo. Mr. Dent had dark hair, parted on his left; the hair waved off to the right. He had a very full mustache and complete beard. He had on the usual black suit coat with generous lapels, a vest that also had lapels, and a white shirt. His torso was turned to his right, but his head was turned to look straight at the camera. He was not smiling. The background was colored a pale warm brown with gray "clouds" near his shoulders. The wallpaper behind the portrait was very vertical and Victorian in flavor.
