Scope and Content

1 certificate ; 10 1/4"h x 13"w The buff paper was 10 1/4"h x 13"w. The actual text was enclosed in a rectangle 8 1/8"h x 11"w. The names and dates are typewritten on the piece. There is a 3 /78" diameter gold sticker of the Maryland state seal affixed in the lower left corner of the text rectangle. The seal is also printed in the upper left corner of the space. Mr. Abell was Rebecca MacDonald's father. Ralph Abell was named Justice of the Peace and "designated as Trial Magistrate" on April 28, 1949 for a term of two years. The certificate was signed by the Governor and the Secretary of State. We only have the scan. The original was returned to the family.
