There is a maroon and brass three bulb tole style metal lamp on the table, as well as a vase with a thistle flower motif, an ashtray, piles of books and magazines, and a glass of ?, possibly bourbon and water. A wastebasket is on the floor near the table. Mrs. Fenwick's hair is pulled back behind her ears and curls down to the nape of her neck. She has on rimless glasses and has a cigarette in her right hand. She has on a dark navy dress with a deep V neck and a large pin at the point of the V. Her left arm may be resting on a black tote bag. She has a book open in her lap and is intent on the contents. A dark gray topcoat and an open book are next to her on the sofa.
