Green marbled cover with brown leather spine. "J.F.D." burned on long edge of spine at front cover. On flyleaf: "John F. Dent Leonard Town St. Mary's County Md. March 21, 1836." Between the next pages is a letter from [Fannie?] to [Kate?] in 1873. P. 1-32 law texts copied in very careful script P. 33, Dent's account of the emancipation of his 26 slaves so he can claim compensation for $24,900 P. 34-39 an account of removal of his slaves for which he hoped to claim compensation of $31,150 p. 40-41 an estimate of the worth of Burlington and Mo___? farms p. 51 a schedule of real and personal property in 1849 P. 52 expenses for 1850 p. 54 a list of fruit trees bought and planted at Burlington in 1865-67 No other pages numbered, no other entries, but at least two pages cut out at the back
