Description

Brown ledger with red leather spine and corners. A set of alphabetic tabs comes first, followed by numbered pages. Some of the alphabetic tabs are used as an index to some of the ledger pages. A reference to the Hodges account on p. 156 fails because the pages have been removed. There are recipes and household tips on the inside cover and first leaf. Sometimes bills are clipped onto pages, staining the paper. The amounts and values of various crops are reported over the years, especially for tobacco. On p. 172 are listed family events and deaths, with a few more listed inside the back cover.
