Boulton and Mills Store Ledger, 1808-1815

Description

This ledger is 13" high, 8 1/4" wide, and 1 7/8" thick. It is soft brown leather with black stamped egg and dart design 1/4" wide "framing" the front and back covers. There are six pairs of a stamped black rope designs on the spine. A handwritten A is between the ropes that are third from the top. There is some staining and indentations on the cover, but by and large, the book is in very good condition. The text bloc is firmly seated. The enterprise was probably in Chaptico. Notice there are two numbering groups; when Mr. Boulton left the business, the account page numbering system started over.
