1995.001.1619Description
Black and white 10"h x 8"w photo of the Leonard Calvert monument in the graveyard at Trinity Church in St. Mary's City. There are lots of trees on the bank below the monument and one very tall tree to its right. There are several gravestones visible around the cenotaph. The monument is on a little rise all by itself. It has a light colored granite square base with three successive levels, each smaller that the last. There are ten square blocks that taper to a pyramid at the top. Each block is banded to the next with the same color stone. The bottom block has darker colored gothic arches engraved with text not legible from this distance. The next block up has a seal imbedded in the stone. All the other blocks are plain. A wreath is laid at the foot of the monument on Maryland Day.
