Leonardtown Main Street [Washington Avenue]Entry/Object ID
1995.001.2433Description
3 3/8"h x 5 1/4"w blue tone photo on a postcard of the main street of Leonardtown, known locally as Washington Avenue. There was no evidence of automobiles, so the image is quite old. There were power poles and a tall metal support for a windmill, but none of the streets were paved. The Reading Room and Debating Society building with its columned porch was at the end of the square. A gentleman was standing next to a bullock cart that was complete with bullock. There was a large two story building on the other side of the square, but it was largely obscured by trees. There was a large box in the square that might be an electrical box or a water source.
