This is a photograph of the front entrance of the Leonardtown School. The entrance was inset into a porticoe created by a gable roof. The verge board was elaborately carved as was the pendant at the peak of the gable end. This woodwork was painted a dark color to contrast with the white walls. In the center of the gable end was a dark circle around a stark white space. The roof was supported by four plain square columns that had elaborate scroll work at the top of each except the column on the left. It was probably in place once, but had been lost. The entry door is two two panel doors without glass. There is a simple pediment above the door. Large six over six windows flanked that door. There were doors on each side of the porticoe, presumably into classrooms. These doors had four lights above the knob. The was a thin line of color painted around the windows and doors to highlight them. The porch floor was painted a lighter color. The porch was two steps above the ground. On the left of the front of the building was a pair of large nine over nine windows outlined in the dark paint. There were no visible windows on the right. The roof appeared to be cedar shakes.
