This is an enlarged copy of an old photograph. T. Lee Mattingly taught all grades at the Leonardtown School, District 3, School no. 1. Mr. Fenwick believed the picture was taken in 1916 or 1917. There are twenty-nine pupils present. The building behind the students appears to be a white clapboard building with light colored shutters. Mr. Fenwick said this was the south side of the building. The small boy standing on the chair seems to have enormous feet--perhaps these are hand-me-downs that do not really fit him. Also notice the girl second to the right of Mr. Mattingly--she knows how to pose for the camera!
