Letter from Dorothy to HopeEntry/Object ID
2014.013.0050Description
As there is no indication of what Dorothy's last name is in the letter all I have to go by is a first name. The contents of the letter itself go into how she was packing up some of Francis' (No surname given) material on Baltimore. She mentions she came across a bunch of names that had served at the battles of North Point and Fort McHenry. Apparently the info was in a pamphlet published by the Muster Rolls office of the 3rd Auditor, U.S. Treasury, MD.
The names she gives are as follows:
6th Regiment, MD. Militia
George Blades (Private)
John Blades (Private)
39th Regiment
Elsey Cole (Private)
George Cole (Private)
Fells Pt. Riflemen
Perry Blades (Private)
Dorothy also mentions that she came across a typed copy of an article from the "Green Bag" from Nov. 1900. The title was "Bar of Early Maryland Writers" written by E. Riley of the Maryland Bar. She mentions that he discussed Cuthbert Fenwick in his writing. In 1647 Mr. Fenwick successfully kept a debtor out of the assembly by proving that (Nicholas Guyther) a delegate from St. Mary's, was not a freeman and owed him service.Collection
