Letter from L. Garrett Myers to JuliaEntry/Object ID
2014.013.0199Description
This a letter Julia received from the "Genealogical Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" located in Salt Lake City. Originally, Julia had inquired with them about any material listed under the name of "Gwyther", "Guyther" or "Guither". They concur with what has been said before about "Gwyther" being of Welsh origin. Mr. Myers adds that the name first appear as "Wyther" and the "G" added at the beginning means "son of Wyther". He says that "Guither" is of German origin. One other thing of note was him mentioning that they have a record for a Gwyther family arriving to Utah from Wales in 1850 as well as a German family around the same time.Collection
