2014.013.0209Description
This is a response to an inquiry Hope had made with the society he was in called "The Heraldric and Genealogical Society of Wales" about information on an different individual named Nicholas Gwyther and his history from his time in Wales. Luckily, this time around her inquiry actually came back with some results. The researcher Paul had been working on his own project of the Welsh Gwythers and was able to trace a direct line of the family to 1583.
The first bit of information Paul gives was from a book titled "History and Law Lessons BBCS, 4 Page 298" dated to the year 1583. According to the book Nicholas Guyther of Manorbier along with three other tenants had made a case against a Lady Joyce for breaking customs of the Manor. The tenants wanted to "hold their lands by the rod". This Nicholas Gwyther was given several acres of land by the end of the case.
Paul later goes on to say that because he is about to connect a bunch of Gwythers from the 16th century in Pembrokeshire that he could very much likely find the family that Hope's ancestor Nicholas Guyther left behind. He talks a bit more about general Gwyther history in Wales before mentioning he enclosed a form to join their society.
