Letter of October 18, 1792 from John DeButts to Elias DeButts in Dublin about Elias' son Major Henry DeButts who participated in Indian wars in Ohio. John had an apothecary shop in Baltimore, but he did not think much of America. He thought the people completely focussed on money and crops and that polite society was not to be found. He would only advise a young man to come if he were trying to escape the gallows.
The original letter is one large folded sheet. The color photocopy is on four sheets. The transcription is also on four sheets. Prefer the copy to the original to preserve it.Collection
