8"h x 10"w black and white photo with a strange red tone of the teacher and her students at the little red schoolhouse on April 17,1906. The teacher, Dora Harrison, was surrounded by eleven girls and five boys. As was typical, a small boy sat cross-legged on the ground holding a small chalkboard that said "School #1 District #5 Apr. 17, 1906." Miss Harrison had dark hair piled up high and wore a striped shirtwaist with a high collar. She had a long lanyard around her neck, perhaps for keys. Most of the children were solemn. The building behind them was dark clapboard with a single door. This enlargement makes it easier to see clothing details. ********************************** Text on verso: in black ink a sheet of paper had a left to right list of people, but it failed to account for the rows, so the identities are uncertain, plus not all the children are listed "Left to Right Ethel Canter--never married Mattie Harrison Kenerly Harrison Dora Harrison Lina Harrison Emily Chesley Morgan Anderson Wilma Canter--never married Jamie Petherbridge Bell ?
