Black and white 5"h x 7"w photo of Locust Grove in Chaptico. There were four brick steps with a metal railing from the street to the front walk. There were six brick steps up to the porch. The porch was covered with a gable roof that was at right angles to the house's orientation. There was a closed pediment above five round white pillars. The large front door, with a transom of three lights over it, was on the right and two large windows with shutters were on the left. There was an electric light in the porch ceiling. The openings under the porch floor were covered with wooden lattice. Above the porch pediment were three six over six double hung windows without shutters. The house had a standing seam metal gable roof. On the left gable end was a large outside end double chimney with a two story clapboard pent. There were no windows in the pent. On the back side of the roof on the right was a television antenna. On the right gable end was a story and a half addition with at least two gable roofed dormers. There were two visible windows with dark shutters on the first floor. A very large oak tree was to the right.
