1995.001.2268Description
3 1/2"h x 3 1/2"w sepia tone photo of Locust Hill in the Huntersville area. It was a story and a half gable roofed building with a massive chimney on one gable end. Someone had begun work to rehabilitate the building. The view was of that gable end. The roof was steep. The right roof line included a closed end shed roof porch. The huge chimney had two sets of shoulders, indicating there must have been a fireplace in the upper story. It was painted white up to the chimney stack. The stack stood away from the house and appeared to have been rebuilt. There was a new six over six double hung window to the right of the upper chimney shoulder. There was a hole in the siding next to the window and another larger hole covered with tarpaper was nearby. Between the chimney and the house was a twelve? foot high brick or concrete spacer that had been worked on in an untidy way. Immediately to the right of the chimney was a modern fifteen light door. Next to that was the corner of the house and the porch and it was covered with tarpaper also. There was a gap in the siding over the porch. Two new gable roofed dormers were in the roof and appeared to have tarpaper as roofing. The big roof was metal. Near the chimney was a strip of tarpaper to cover a failure.
